About New Electric
Development of prototypes into large machinesNew Electric Engineering started in 2008 by converting a speedboat to electric, so we could go waterskiing. For 15 years, we have been converting all types of vehicles, vessels, and heavy machinery. From classic cars to tractors, from yachts to tugboats with a combined weight of 100 tons that sail emission-free through the Amsterdam canals. In addition to converting machines, we also supply complete powertrains to conversion partners; since our powertrain is certified for road use by the Dutch Road Transport Authority, a certificate is valid in all EU countries.
Previous projects

Our naval projects
Waternet boat
The "Pieter Kruiswijk" is a survey and inspection vessel with an HDPE hull. Built for Waternet and equipped with 2 complete and separate electric drivelines, each with 45 kWh IEC-certified LFP modules and our 100 kW New Electric Marine drive coupled to Mercruiser stern drives.
Tug
The "JAN" is a tugboat that we converted for Sleepdienst Luteijn. SI approved by the NBKB, this vessel is certified for a combined weight of up to 100 tonnes and operates daily in and around the Amsterdam canals. Equipped with a series-hybrid version of our 100 kW New Electric Marine drive, 130 kWh of IEC-certified LFP modules, and a 40 kVa backup generator set, this vessel can handle heavy duties and double shifts.
ZOEV City Tugboat
The tugboat "Dorus" has been converted for PK Waterbouw and deployed for ZOEV CITY emission-free transport of goods and construction materials in the canals of Amsterdam. Equipped with a parallel hybrid version of our 100 kW New Electric Marine drive and 65 kWh IEC-certified LFP modules, this vessel offers up to 5 hours of autonomous, fully electric operation while pushing 100 tons through the city. Once outside the city center, it switches to diesel-hybrid mode to pick up new materials while recharging its battery.
