This 2nd Gen NE-1800-3i asphalt spreader from New Electric has been redeveloped from the ground up based on the Vögele Super 1800-3i SprayJet. As a result, the frame is factory-ready for the installation of the interchangeable package, and all hydraulic and electrical components are in their original and accessible locations. This is a welcome improvement for the maintenance of factory and New Energy (NE) high-voltage (HV) systems.
For the people working on and around the machine, what stands out most is how whisper-quiet the machine is now. This is partly because all the cooling fans are PWM demand-driven, and also because the drive has become a direct-drive PM motor without a reduction gearbox.
This further development, together with the company’s own New Electric HV Heat Pump system, also delivers efficiency gains for the 10% compared with the first generation. This means that the machine, which, with its combined 500 kWh capacity, was already capable of operating autonomously for the longest period, now runs for even longer without the need for battery changes or (fast) charging.
With an additional exchange pack, you can operate 24/7, for example on motorways or in locations far from charging facilities. As standard, both batteries are equipped with their own (CCS2) 500 Amp charging function, meaning the machine is fully charged within 60 minutes. This is more than fast enough to schedule operations for an evening or night shift at a subsequent location. If the work is already finished, just like with the first generation, you can simply charge the machine using AC wherever it suits.
Just like the 1st generation spreader, the machine was developed on behalf of BAM Infra.
